Ohya Family Residence
Oya family were originally merchants who produced miso. In the late Meiji era (1868-1912), the family had branched off from the main family of Oya Chukichi Honten located in Motomachiand their miso production business lasted until approximately 1977.
Two storehouses facing the old Oshu Road were constructed in the late Meiji era, when the business first started, and the interiors consist of a shop area with a dirt floor and a zashikigura. The main residence is connected to a courtyard and is constructed in the traditional townhouse style.
Designated as a Historically Scenic Landmark by Shirakawa City on July 21st, 2011.
